Philippines: Surigao Del Sur Activates Emergency Center for ¡®Onyok¡¯


Davos City: Surigao del Sur Gov Johnny Pimentel said on Thursday (December 18) that the provincial disaster coordinating center has been activated as Tropical Depression Onyok continued to move inland towards Caraga region.\r\n“It will be open 24/7,” Pimentel informed the Philippine Daily Inquirer through a text message, amid an early morning report from PAGASA that the tropical depression, which developed as the Philippines was still coping with the effects of Typhoon Nona, was moving towards Caraga at 15 kilometers per hour with maximum winds of 55 kilometers per hour.

Philippines: Boy Scouts Trained on Emergency Response


Kidapawan City: Members of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines were trained recently on emergency medical response.  The 3-day 1st School Based Emergency Medical Response Dispatch Training was spearheaded by the Philippine Red Cross, Kidapawan City Emergency Response Unit  ( KIDCERU), Call 911 and BSP-Kidapawan City.\r\nAs part of the  public safety  program of the city government  and Mayor Joseph  Evangelista, the  training aimed to capacitate the  boy scouts in responding to disasters and emergencies in their  respective  schools such  as  conducting basic  search and rescue. Philippines: SN Aboitiz Donates 3 Ambulances to Isabela


City of Ilagan, Isabela: The power conglomerate SN Aboitiz recently donated three units of ambulances to the provincial government here.\r\nThe 3 ambulances together with deed of donations were received by Governor Faustino G Dy III in a simple turn over rites held in front of the capitol.Dy expressed thanks to the SN Aboitiz for donating such important vehicle to be used by Isabelinos in times of calamities and emergencies.He said one of the ambulances would be deployed at the Isabela Provincial Health Office while the two will be deployed in other district hospitals in the province.

Philippines: Solon Files Bill Seeking to Improve Emergency Health Care Services


Quezon City Rep. Jose Christopher Belmonte has filed a bill seeking to strengthen the provision of emergency health care services to patients.\r\nHouse Bill 6341 provides that where there is no ambulance available for use by the hospital or medical clinic for the emergency transfer of the patient to a facility where the appropriate care can be given, the barangay where the hospital or medical clinic is located shall allow the free use of its emergency vehicle to transport the patient to the hospital or medical clinic where a continuation of care shall be given.

Philippines: Zamboanga City to put up P110-M Command Center


Zamboanga: City Mayor Ma. Isabelle Climaco-Salazar said the City Government is putting up this year a P110-million command center that would serve as emergency response hub. Salazar said the establishment of the command center is aimed to synchronize the response of the different agencies to emergencies in times natural and man-made calamities.\r\n“We want to initiate this (center) so we will be able to respond to emergency better,” Salazar added. The command center will be placed at City Hall.
