Dr. David Chew traces the development of Ambulance services in in Singapore from early hospital based services in 1917 to institutionlised central services in 1993 run by the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).
Author highlights the Implementation strategy for the master plan for preshosiptal care. The PEC Plan is developed for MOH to effect key changes and inter-agency collaborations required to raise standards of care for improved patient outcomes and survival rates across the wide spectrum of pre-hospital emergencies.
Dr Chew identifies integrated efforts by Community Responsiveness, Ambulance Responsiveness and Emergency Department Responsiveness in pre-hospital care and research by Pan Asian Trauma Outcomes Study: PATOS will help in achievieng these goals.
