Dubai may currently be stealing the limelight when it comes to attention-grabbing emergency vehicles, but in truth they are more about generating publicity for the Emirate than real world, hum-drum policing activity.
Elsewhere, relatively exotic machinery actually has to perform critical emergency service roles and BMW will be showcasing its range of purpose-built emergency vehicles at the RETTmobiltrade show in Fulda, Germany later this month.
The Bavarian car maker will be exhibiting a total of seven different models – a BMW X6 M50d designed as a medical car for the racetrack; a BMW X3 as a fire brigade command; a BMW X1 “First Responder”; a BMW X3 and a BMW 3 Series Touring as emergency medical services vehicles; a BMW 5 Series Touring as a fire brigade command vehicle and a public authority version of the new F 800 GT motorcycle. |
