Health Dept Takes over Operation of 108 Service

JAIPUR: The medical, health and family welfare department took over the operations of 108 ambulances in the state from May 6, Monday midnight, following dispute on payments with 108 ambulance operator Ziqitza Healthcare Limited (ZHL). Now the health department will operate 108 ambulances on its own. The health department has already started the tender process to rope in contractors to operate the ambulances in the state.

The company claimed that the health department has not made payments for April, following which it became difficult to run the ambulances in the state. ZHL senior manager Rishi Sharma said, "We do not have diesel to run the ambulances which is why more than 40 ambulances are not operating in the state. In such conditions we will not be able to operate the ambulances." He claimed that the health department has not paid Rs 22 crore.
