The Department of Health-Cordillera will be expanding good practices from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and System Science Consultants-assisted project in the region.
DOH Regional Director Valeriano Jesus Lopez said that JICA has identified Apayao, Benguet, and 6 municipalities of Abra as the target sites; the agency is responsible in expanding the good practices derived from the project to the rest of the region.
The Cordillera-wide strengthening of the local health for effective and efficient delivery of maternal and child health services is a 5-year project of JICA in partnership with the DOH. It provides training to 32 Basic Emergency Obstetrics and New-born Care (BEmONC) teams composed of around 100 health professionals to further strengthen BEmONC services in the region. |
