Negrense Lauded for Peace Prize Who Had Served as Emergency Medical Technician


Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. congratulated a Negrense on October 13, who is an official of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, and other Filipinos who are members of the OPCW that is this year's Nobel Peace Prize winner.

According to Rene, his brother graduated at La Salle High School Bacolod Class of 1980, completed his undergraduate degree in Biology and began premed studies at La Salle College Bacolod, before immigrating to the New York metropolitan area in the 1980s, where he later served as a paramedic and emergency medical technician instructor with the New York City Emergency Medical Services (EMS), then under the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation, which later merged with the New York City Fire Department.
