Hyderabad: The nearly 3,500 employees of '108' ambulance service called off their prolonged agitation on August 22 Thursday after a dialogue with the officials of Emergency Management and Research Institute (EMRI) that is operating the service on behalf of the state government and an official from the labour department. They are set to resume duties within a day or two.
EMRI in a token gesture decided to give a Rs 300 hike per month for each employee. Employees working as drivers and paramedics for the '108' ambulance service who get paid Rs 7,200 - Rs 8,500 per month have been asking for a minimum monthly salary of Rs 15,000 but their demand was not accepted. Employees said they would continue to pursue their demand for better wages with the state government. |
