Chennai: When someone in a far-flung suburb like Vandalur has a serious heart ailment, chances are the ambulance will take them straight to either the Government General Hospital near Central Station or Government Royapettah Hospital, both of which are easily 30 odd kilometres away.
To save time and lives, the state along with GVK-EMRI (that operates the 108 ambulance service) has launched an Emergency Care Centre at the Chrompet GH, on August 5 Monday. This will be first among pilot trauma centres that will soon be set up at the outskirts of cities and towns across the state. |
