Hospital Fee Waiver eased

The Hospital Authority is relaxing the application criteria for its fee-waiving mechanism, with public hospital charges set to climb on June 18. Fees set to jump include for the accident and emergency service, which rises 80 percent, from HK$100 to HK$180.

Charges are waived for Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients who only have to show a fee waiver issued by the Social Welfare Department. From June 18, the authority will roll out measures to improve the fee-waiving mechanism, including relaxed asset limits for eligible applicants, which will be about 40 percent higher.
