Dehradun: The 108 emergency ambulance service, which was started in 2008, is virtually having a free run in the state in the absence of a monitoring system at the level of the Directorate of Health and provisions for an independent audit through a third party. \r\n The service was started with a Hyderabad-based company under the public private partnership (PPP) mode. However, it was later taken over by GVK EMRI, the contract of which would end in 2018. However, even after seven years the state government is yet to establish a system to monitor its performance.
