Chennai: What does a paramedic travelling in 108 ambulance and a few RPF personnel in the city have in common? Both save lives.Yes! Around 50 people, mostly rail passengers would not have lived to see their future but for the special training on “live saving first aid” a few RPF personnel took from ‘108’ less than two years back.
Mambalam RPF station, which controls from Kodambakkam to Saidapet, one of the busiest stretches that also records maximum footfall in the city, had saved over 20 lives in 2012 alone. 23 of the 25 persons involved in accidents on railway premises were saved last year, an RPF official said attributing the success to the training a couple of station officers took on live saving based on golden hour concept. |
