	Philippines: PDRF National Emergency Operations Center: A world first
	PDRF started life as the Philippine Disaster Recovery Foundation in 2009 by leaders of some of the country’s top business corporations and non-government organizations (NGOs).Recently, PDRF inaugurated its National Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in Clark Field, Pampanga, and the world’s first private sector-led national EOC. The center will serve as a self-sufficient operations hub geared towards training for disaster preparedness and the coordination of relief and response efforts during major disasters.

	Another honor was obtained in the city of Cagayan de Oro under the supervision of Mayor Oscar Moreno. After the new regional office of Civil Defense released regional winners for the 2018 Gawad Kalasag awardees.For the next 5 years, the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Department (CDRRMD) has fallen for the highly urbanized category. Aside from this, Oro Rescue has also acquired another Gawad Kalasag Award as Best Government Emergency Management System.

	Manila: How far can bayanihan go in terms of disaster response?Every year, an average of 20 typhoons hit the country, some causing extensive destruction. In late 2013, after Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) pummeled Eastern Visayas, Time Magazine named the Philippines as \"the most storm-exposed country on earth.\" Yolanda killeds thousands of people and affected over 1.4 million families.

	Philippines: PGH emergency room closed starting June 1
	Manila: The emergency room of state-run Philippine General Hospital (PGH) will be closed starting June 1 for renovation, the hospital announced on 22th May. PGH spokesperson Dr Jonas del Rosario said the renovation may be completed within 4 months at the earliest, or up to a year.\r\n\"They did not give us the exact time, how long the duration will be for the renovation but it will be approximately... the earliest time would be 4 months. Realistically, it’s probably going to be more than that, maybe roughly about a year,\" he said.
