The army is working on establishing a contingent of paramedics to respond to civil emergencies, army commander Major General Ahmed Shiyam said on May 22 Thursday.
During the closing ceremony of the First Responders Training Programme conducted for soldiers and health ministry staff held at the Coast Guard Building, Shiyam said that the US-funded course is of great importance to the Maldives as it will improve the quality of services given by first responders.
Shiyam also said that a ‘sea hospital’ is important for a Maldives which is made of several remote islands. |
