Dubai: The United Arab Emirates, represented by Dubai, has been nominated to be the regional headquarters of the Asian EMS (Emergency Medicine Services) Council in the Middle East.
The Council was founded in 2010 in Singapore to address top issues in EMS, such as undertaking research projects on pre-hospital care and collecting, registering and preserving data relating to the injured, creating opportunities for education and training for EMS physicians and providers, promoting sharing of experience of other EMS systems and collaborating with each other for advancement of EMS systems.
Executive director of Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, Khalifa Al Dari, said the idea of the council’s foundation dates back to 2009 when physicians from eight countries put the idea into shape at the National Association of EMS Physicians (NAEMSP) and Korean Society of Emergency Medicine Services (KSEMS) meeting. Thus, the Asian EMS Council was set up to promote and advocate pre-hospital care and EMS in Asia, and member countries. |
