Japan Grants Rs. 37 million for Disaster Risk Reduction in Sri Lanka


Colombo: A Japanese NGO has received a Rs. 37 million grant from Japan for a capacity building project on community-based disaster risk reduction in Sri Lanka.

The Japanese Ambassador in Colombo Nobuhito Hobo and Program Unit Chief of Civic Force Ms Megumi Kuwana signed the grant contract for a project entitled "Capacity Building project on community-based disaster risk reduction" on the 13th February at the Ambassador's Residence in Colombo.

The project amounts to US$ 291,005 (approximately Rs. 37million) and is to be implemented for one year under the Grant Assistance for Japanese NGO Projects, a grant funding program of Japan's Official Development Assistance (ODA).
