Mumbai: After a long wait of three years, the state government will finally roll out 156 specialised ambulances in the first week of February at Nashik, Amravati, Nagpur, Aurangabad and Kolhapur as part of their `1,060 crore project for five years, wherein 937 specialised ambulances will reach any given spot in Maharashtra in 30 minutes, after being alerted on the emergency number '108'.
The ambulances being provided by Pune-based BVG India Ltd. are expected to roll out across Maharashtra by March end, confirmed Dr Satish Pawar, director of Health Services. “The control room is at Pune. The ambulances are being tested. This free service is one of its kind in the world,” said Dr Pawar. |
