Madurai: Around 3,000 personnel of the 108Ambulance Workers Union has decided to go on a 1-day token strike across the state early next month in protest against authorities ignoring their long-pending demands. The strike will commence at 8pm on January 8. At a press meet held here on December 24 Tuesday the office-bearers of the union said their rightful demands have been ignored for several years. Repeated submissions to the government and the GVK Emergence Management and Research Institute (GVK EMRI), the private agency that runs the ambulance service since its launch in 2008, received no response so far, the Union members said. |
