Negros Occidental opened its P80-million hospital in Splay City which is expected to further boost the tourism industry in southern Negros.
Governor Alfredo Marañon led local officials in the opening of the Merceditas Montilla District hospital on Monday December 16. The donor of the 2 hectare lot, Merceditas Montilla, was also present. The hospital can also accommodate residents of nearby Bayawan, Negros Oriental, the governor said.
Sipalay City Mayor Oscar Montilla said statistics show that in 2012, about 34,000 tourists, mostly Europeans, came to Sipalay City for their diving sorties, and the figure increased by five percent this year. Montilla said the City Government will construct a helipad within the vicinity of the hospital that can be used for emergency evacuation. |
