Taipei: President Ma Ying-jeou said November 12 Tuesday that the government is aiming to increase the number of nurses in Taiwan by 9,200 over the next two years, as part of its efforts to deal with the shortage of nursing staff in the country.

Of the 9,200 additional nurses expected to be working by 2016, 200 will be posted in remote areas of the county, the president said at a Doctors' Day celebration.
