Washington, April 6 (IANS) The Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) has selected AmeriCares, the non-profit global health and disaster relief organization, for its Service to India Award on April 20. Three Indian Americans will also be honoured for service to the community and/or India or the society at large, according to a GOPIO release.
In 2006, AmeriCares deepened its commitment to India by establishing a local presence in Mumbai. AmeriCares India today responds to emergency medical needs and delivers medical aid to health care providers in 26 Indian states and union territories.
