Manila: By filing Senate Bill No. 1553 Senator JV Ejercito asserted the establishment of the Department of Disaster and Emergency Management. Ejercito\'s move follows the commemoration of the super typhoon Yolanda in the Eastern Visayas region four years ago. He said the super typhoon Yolanda was hit by a government policy shortfall in disaster preparedness, mitigation, response and rehabilitation.
\r\nEjercito noted that the disadvantages of a department that will address disaster preparedness, response and mitigation, and risk reduction will be addressed. |
