Koraput: The National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) in association with health and family welfare department will launch a round-the-clock ambulance service to transport patients to the nearest health centres in tribal-dominated Koraput district from August 15. Pregnant women will also be rushed to hospitals with a view to promoting institutional deliveries.
Officials said the new ambulance service will be launched under National Ambulance Service and replace the existing Janani Express service pressed for transporting pregnant women. A patient can avail the service by dialing 102 toll-free number. The service will be free.
"The ambulance service will be monitored through global positioning system and have average response time of 30 minutes after getting a call. Depending on the nature of the disease, the patients will be shifted to health centres," said CDMO (Koraput) Niranjan Das. |
