Mysore: When JSS Medical College's department of pharmacy started the Poison Information Centre (PIC) 2 years ago, the objective was simple - minimize or prevent illness and death due to poisoning.
If someone has consumed poison or has been bitten by a snake, people can call the toll-free number 1800-4250207 of the PIC which has a team of clinical pharmacists who provide information about the poison and a physician experienced in toxicology to assist in critical situations.
PIC is the only centre in Karnataka and the toll-free number can be accessed throughout the state. Every day, the centre provides service over telephone, by email and in person from 8am to 8pm. |
