MADURAI: After the successful induction of an exclusive 108 ambulance service for neonatal car in Madurai district, similar services are set to be introduced in all the southern districts.
The ambulance, which was inducted in the fleet in October 2012, has served as many as 192 infants, less than 28 days old. Incidentally, all the 192 infants who were carried in the vehicle for the specialty service have been saved and there was no loss of life, sources said. The majority of the cases attended were infants with low birth weight and respiratory problems and apart from which babies, who did not cry also were attended to, said, G Thanigaivel Murugan, Madurai district manager of 108 services. |
