India: Western Railway to Run Emergency Med Room at Mumbai Central from Inside a Porta Cabin

India: Chandigarh to Finally Get 108 Ambulance Service


Chndigarh: Finally, the Chandigarh health department is going to launch emergency medical response ambulance service 108 on Tuesday (January 26). The service is being provided in over 15 states and two Union Territories (UTs) for years but Chandigarh has now taken a call.\r\nThe city is already having around 10 ambulances under 102 facility. Now the health department will place six ambulances under 108 scheme at six different areas of the city. The ambulances under 102 service provide basic transport facility but 108 is an emergency response system, designed to attend patients of critical care, trauma, accident victims and others.

India: Set Up Special Emergency Medical Teams at all Railway Stations, Suggests Bombay High Court


Mumbai: The Bombay high court on Monday asked the railways to consider setting up special teams at all stations to provide emergency medical care to accident victims.\r\nThe HC\'s suggestion came even as Western Railway said that it would set up emergency medical rooms (EMRs) at 10 stations that have seen 100 or more track deaths. A division bench of Justice Abhay Oka and Justice Revati Dere suggested that the Centre and the railways should consider making provisions in the budget for the special teams.

India: First-Aid Training in Coastal Villages On


The District Rural Development Agency of the State Institute of Rural Development, which launched Community Based Disaster Management (CBDM) in 180 coastal villages in the district, has offered training to the members of first-aid committees from select villages.\r\nIn his address after inaugurating the training under the a pilot programme here on Monday, Collector S. Natarajan said that about 1.72 lakh people, constituting 22 per cent of the district’s population, lived in the coastal villages and the CBDM programme was aimed at protecting them in the event of natural disasters.
