Burma (Myanmar): Kayin State IDP Camp Call for Emergency Medical Aid


March 22: Urgent medical attention is needed at the Ee Tu Hta displaced persons camp in Kayin State amid an outbreak of diarrhea among children and the elderly, camp officials have said.\r\nThe outbreak began on February 20 and has so far affected around 30 internally displaced persons (IDPs). Camp officials are calling for emergency aid, including medicine, to be provided in order to prevent dehydration fatalities as well as to stop the spread of any infection. The Hpapun township camp is home to some 3,000 displaced persons.

Burma (Myanmar): Industry Ministry Tests Home-Grown Affordable Ambulances


The Ministry of Industry is testing whether affordable ambulances it is building meet the requirements of a tender put out by hospitals.\r\n\"We have manufactured two ambulance designs,\" said Dr Toe Naing. \"One is being tested. We expect that one will go into production in about two months\' time. We aim to produce affordable ambulances. “We showed our test-ambulance to medical authorities and listened to their requirements. We tested old cars set to be scrapped to find which could be renovated as useful vehicles.\"

Cambodia: Cambodia Medical Center to be set up


Japan: Innovation Network Corp. of Japan said it will establish a joint venture with 2 other Japanese companies in January to run an emergency medical center in Cambodia. The joint venture will be owned about 52 percent by major engineering company JGC Corp., 46 percent by INCJ, a public-private investment fund, and 2 percent by Kitahara Medical Strategies International. It will start operating an emergency medical center in Phnom Penh with 50 beds by the end of 2015

Cambodia: China to Deliver 200 Ambulances to Cambodia for Healthsector Development


The Chinese government provided 200 sets of ambulances to the Cambodian Ministry of Health on September 12 to contribute to the development of healthsector.\r\nChinese Ambassador to Cambodia Bu Jianguo signed to deliver the ambulances toCambodian Minister of Health Mam Bunheng.\r\nSpeaking after the signing ceremony, Bunheng said the ambulances were a new assistancethat Chinaprovided to Cambodia for health

Cambodia: Singapore, Cambodia Hospitals Expand Training Programme


Siem Reap: Cambodia\'s biggest public hospital has a strong Singapore connection. For 3 years, Tan Tock Seng Hospital has worked with Calmette Hospital in Phnom Penh to train Cambodian doctors    and nurses on trauma care and resuscitation.\r\nPresident Tony Tan Keng Yam on 10 January had a glimpse of the fruits of this partnership when he paid a visit to Calmette Hospital.
