India: CATS Delhi Adds 110 Ambulances to Fleet


In its single largest one-time purchase, the Centralised Accident and Trauma Services (CATS) has opened tender for procuring 110 ambulances, including 10 advanced life-saving units. This is good news for Delhi which records 13,000-15,000 cases a month requiring CATS services. And enjoying the parallel benefit will be the Police Control Room (PCR) unit, which often complains of having to double up as “patient transport vehicle”. CATS director N. India: 24-Hr Emergency Service at CH Turns as a Flop Show!


Ujjain: The 24-hr emergency medical services facility which was started from May 1 in pursuance with the State government has collapsed within 5 days. Under its provision, emergency care was provided at OPD and other wards to the patients. Emergency ward was found to be locked on May 06 Tuesday morning. When asked about the issue, Civil Surgeon Dr CD Sharma said that there are 29 doctors of Class-I, who do not serve emergency services. 10 doctors are left who are eligible for emergency services, but they have declined to render their services. India: French Team Shares Expertise with Doctors


Puducherry: A team of cardiologists and medical experts on emergency care from France were in the city and trained over 150 doctors from the leading medical institutions. T.S. Ravikumar, Director, Jipmer, told The Hindu, “This programme called Indo-French Radial Intervention course was started 6 years ago. Since then the programme was being conducted every year. On May 09 Friday they finished 17 procedures here free of cost. India: Training for Corp's Task Forces on in Kerala


Thiruvananthapuram: The City Corporation here, under its Disaster Management Cell, is equipping task forces to deal with unforeseen risks coming their way through the Climate Risk Management Project (CRMP), a United Nations Development Project (UNDP). Volunteers are given training in 4 modules; ‘First Aid’, ‘Search and Rescue’, ‘Evacuation’ and ‘Shelter Management’. The first part, of providing first aid, is being conducted on May 12 Monday at 3 wards in the city, Beemapally, Beemapally (East) and Valiyathura. India: Hospital Trains School Kids in CPR


Ahmedabad: Teachers and students of DPS, Bopal and St Kabir School were given first-hand training in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to revive unconscious heart attack victims. The initiative was organized in memory of Sterling Hospital's eminent cardiologist Dr Shrenik Shah who died of a heart attack last year. A team of doctors from the hospital demonstrated and performed CPR at a session with around 60 students, making them aware of medical emergencies and their responsibility to save precious lives in such conditions.
