Nagpur: The Maharashtra government had sent a proposal to Nagpur collector for setting up a helipad at Government Medical College (GMC) here for treating police and armed forces personnel who get injured in encounters with Naxalites in Gadchiroli. India: Emergency Operation Drill at Ahmedabad Airport


Ahmedabad: To check the preparedness of all the departments of the airport, an emergency operations drill was carried out at the airport on Tuesday December 17. The two-hour operation began at 3.30 pm. After a 30 minute emergency drill, an hour-long debriefing was held with all officials.  Staff from the CISF and the airport fire brigade along with the medical staff from the Civil Hospital, Apollo Hospital, Chandramani Hospital, and Rajasthan Hospital participated in the drill. India: Trauma Care Becomes Casualty at NIMHANS


Bangalore: With just two CT scan machines for over 120 to 150 patients who pour in every day, the casualty ward of National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) has a perpetually long queue of patients. Most of them are severe trauma injuries waiting for medical attention. Being the only largest trauma centre in Bangalore, the Institute is grappling to handle the situation. India: Sinabung Emergency Response Extended until January 4


Jakarta: The emergency response to the eruption of Mount Sinabung in North Sumatra has been extended until January 4, 2014 as the volcano still shows signs of increased activity, National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) spokesperson said on December 22 Sunday. "The Volcanology and Geology Disaster Mitigation Center (PVMBG) is still imposing an exclusion zone within a 5-kilometer radius from the mounts peak," Head of BNPB Data and Information Center Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said in a written statement here on December 22. As many as 18,166 residents (5,644 family heads) have been evacuated. They are taking refuge in 31 different posts.
