India: State Set to Roll Out Emergency Medical Service from October 1


Pune: Come October and Maharashtra would be first state in the country where doctors would be on board ambulances that will have advanced life support systems. As part of the Rs 1,060-crore Emergency Medical Services (EMS), the response centre is getting ready at the district hospital in Aundh, Pune. The prototype of the ambulances are being tested at the city-based Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) and the results will be out in September. India: 108 Service Employees Call off Strike


Hyderabad:  The nearly 3,500 employees of '108' ambulance service called off their prolonged agitation on August 22 Thursday after a dialogue with the officials of Emergency Management and Research Institute (EMRI) that is operating the service on behalf of the state government and an official from the labour department. They are set to resume duties within a day or two. EMRI in a token gesture decided to give a Rs 300 hike per month for each employee. India: State Disaster Response Force Constituted in Karnataka


Karnataka has constituted the State Disaster Response Force to deal with any eventuality and avoid & minimise the damage. A high-level meeting was held in Kaiga on August 19 Monday to discuss preparedness in case of disasters at the nuclear power station.Senior officials from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Nuclear Power Corporation, district administration and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) participated in the meeting. India: Basic Life-saving Skills for Kolkata Cabbies Soon


Kolkata: The state transport department is going to organize a first-aid training programme for 5,000 taxi drivers in the city, so that they could provide help to passengers if they fall ill while in the taxi.The taxi drivers, after completing the training, will be given a certificate on basic life-saving, said sources. The training programme will be held at Netaji Indoor stadium on August 26. Eminent doctorswould provide the training, said transport minister MadanMitra. The minister also clarified that the government had no plans of cancelling yellow taxis, saying there was a rumour circulating in this regard.

India: Railways to Set up Free Medical Assistance Centres at 5 Stations upload


Madurai: The Southern Railway is planning to establish free emergency medical assistance centres at five stations coming under the Madurai division. The centres to come up shortly, will be set up at Madurai, Tuticorin, Virudhunagar, Tenkasi and Tirunelveli railway junctions.  S Ram Prakash, chief medical director of Southern Railway announced this to media persons here on August 26 Monday.
