India: Attention to Neonates, Ante-natal Mothers


Chennai: In an effort to reduce maternal and neo-natal mortality, the State Government has allotted Rs. 77.59 crore for ambulance services. “The free pick up and drop back facilities made available through 108 ambulances and government ambulances have benefited 6.40 lakh persons including 1.59 lakh ante-natal mothers and 15,365 sick neonates till now. Rs. 77.59 crore has been allocated for this scheme in the budget,” Finance Minister O. Paneerselvam announced.

India: Islanders to Have 1 More Floating Ambulance


Kochi: The success of the floating ambulance that trails along the backwaters offering timely medical help to the islanders has prompted the district administration to introduce another one on similar lines. The ambulance will be equipped with doctors, treatment rooms, paramedical staff, pharmacy, ATMs and the like. District Collector P I Sheik Pareeth said the new project will be undertaken   in collaboration with the Cochin Shipyard. “Talks are on with the Cochin Shipyard officials. If all goes well, the islanders will soon have the services of another ‘boat ambulance’,” he said.

India: 108 Services in 41 MP Districts


Bhopal: 108 emergency response ambulance services have been introduced in 41 districts of the state here on Monday, according to a press release.It handles medical as well as police and fire emergencies. Districts of Katni, Dhar, Raisen, Shajapur, Rajgarh, Morena, Narsingarh, Chattarpur will benefit from the service. "This is just a part of our vision of saving more lives," GVK EMRI, MP, head Devendra Singh said.

India: Heart Care Foundation President Trains Over 11,000 People in CPR


New Delhi: By training more than 11,000 people in cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in a single day, Dr KK Aggarwal, president, Heart Care Foundation of India, created a world record on, April 07, Sunday. In all, 11,459 people were trained that mostly comprised school children. The earlier record was of training 5,000 persons. The event was organised at the Dr Sampoornanand Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya, Yamuna Vihar, on the occasion of World Health Day.

India: Red Cross to Train 2,500 Volunteers for Kumbh Mela


Nashik: The Indian Red Cross Society's Nashik district branch will train nearly 2,500 volunteers to deal with emergencies such as drowning, electrical shock, accidental injuries, suffocation and poisoning during the Simhastha Kumbh mela that will take place in Nashik in 2015. Office bearers of the society, including Aniruddha Dharmadhikari, Major P M Bhagat (veteran),Sunil Aundhkar and Anand Bhattad, have worked out a plan, which is being discussed with the district collector and city police commissioner.
