Umm Al Quwain: Three years ago a large, sprawling expanse of desert in the emirate lay empty.Today, the sand has made way for the Dh750 million Sheikh Khalifa General Hospital, which stands on 46,000 square metres. “One of the goals of the UAE is to provide world-class health care for its residents and I think this is one of the demonstrable steps to help do that,” said Douglas McLaughlin, the hospital’s chief operating officer. The Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (Seha) has announced that the expansion and renovation of the emergency room (ER) at Al Rahba Hospital will begin shortly. United Arab Emirates: Oman Deploys Air Ambulance in Tourist Area


Muscat: With thousands of Gulf region tourists pouring into Salalah for holidays, amid the area’s current monsoon weather, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) have deployed an air ambulance designed to respond to traffic accidents or other medical emergencies during the course of the holiday season. A helicopter fitted with emergency trauma care equipment has been positioned at the ROP’s Al Wusta Police Command, roughly at the midpoint between Muscat in the northeast and Salalah in the far south of the Sultanate.

Abu Dhabi: The Dubai Police and Unified Ambulance Services in Dubai: Dubai organised a practical workshop on first aid for 32 students as part of a summer awareness programme named ‘ambassadors of care’ organised by the Dubai Police’s anti-narcotic department in cooperation with its department of community services. United Arab Emirates: DHA Conducts 393 Training Courses for Its Employees


Dubai: The Dubai Health Authority’s (DHA) medical education department organised 393 training programs during the first half of 2013 and more than 11,000 employees benefited from these programmes, according to a top DHA official. Dr Khalil Ibrahim, director of medical education at the DHA said, “The training courses include workshops and conferences in the field of medicine, administration and information technology.
