United Arab Emirates: Al Rahba Hospital Drastically Cuts Emergency Department Wait Times


Abu Dhabi: Al Rahba Hospital announced that it’s "Door to Doc" or D2D program, an initiative aimed to improve the hospital's patient flow, has drastically reduced emergency department (ED) wait times from 3 hours to less than 1 hour (peak times) in less than five months of implementation. During the same period, doctors in ED attended to up to 15% more patients daily. Over 90 percent of patients were seen within 1 hour of arrival to the ED and almost 75 percent of the patients were seen within 30 minutes in 2013. United Arab Emirates: GCC Agrees to Closer Disaster Cooperation


Abu Dhabi: GCC countries have agreed to closer cooperation to deal with any possible disasters in the region.The 2-day Crisis and Emergency Management Conference 2014 concluded with a recommendation to develop modern technology and detailed emergency plans to be shared with others. It also stressed the need for research by studying past disasters and learning lessons to introduce disaster measures. United Arab Emirates: How Cycling Medics Help Speed up Response Time in Dubai


Dubai: To save precious seconds lost to traffic jams on the roads, the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services (DCAS) is increasingly relying on medics on bicycles who can reach victims much faster. The service is in operation along with DCAS’ vans, motorbikes and ambulances for patients in Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) and for special events like the Global Village. The DCAS medics on cycles have attended to 232 cases since the service was launched in January 2013.

United Arab Emirates: Khalifa-Ordered National Ambulance Service Begins


Abu Dhabi: Lieutenant General Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, on February 24 Monday afternoon launched the National Ambulance Project to cover all the northern areas through 8 main sites and 22 branches. The move follows the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Sheikh Saif inspected the medical preparations, qualified cadres and well-equipped ambulances at the General Headquarters of Abu Dhabi Police before dispatching them to their designed geographic areas to discharge services to the public in those areas.

United Arab Emirates: Mafraq Hospital Opens Emergency Maternity Ward


Abu Dhabi: New emergency maternity wards in the capital will help to bring quick medical attention to expectant mothers. Women who have passed the midpoint of their pregnancy, about 20 weeks, can visit the newly established Maternity Assessment Unit (MAU) at Al Mafraq Hospital to put their mind at ease or prepare for possible early delivery instead of going to see unspecialised doctors at emergency departments.
