Thailand: The National Reform Council has expressed support for the nationwide use of a new emergency hotline number


Bangkok: During the National Reform Council’s meeting on May 11, the discussion focused on the report on the reform of the country’s emergency hotline number which was proposed to be 112.The NRC’s public health reform committee who proposed the new hotline number said the change will enable people across the country to call only one number, by phone and internet, which will lead to an efficient integration of efforts by all related agencies, particularly in rescue operations.The committee said that the new hotline 112 will be able to respond to distress calls within 10 seconds as the new system will be equipped with an accur

Thailand: Prayut Urged to Ban Private Hospital Collecting charges on Emergency Patients


Bangkok: The Thai Medical Error Network made another call, on May 17, on the prime minister to ban private hospitals from collecting advance deposit or from mandating relatives of patients to sign medical bills acceptance from within the first 72 hours after their emergency admissions.The network, led by Mrs Preeyanan Lorsermvattana, thanked Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha after its first call was quickly responded. The network on May 19 filed a petition, signed by 33,000 people, calling on Gen Prayut to impose controls on private hospital’s charging of medical service fees which they said are unreasonably high.

Thailand: Phuket to Hold Disaster Drill on 25-26 June


Phuket: Provincial authorities in Phuket convened on May 27 for a meeting to prepare an emergency response drill in case of earthquake, evacuation of residents and management of temporary shelters. Acting Sub Lt Trakul said that the exercise was conducted annually in order to improve information management and the directing and coordinating system in disaster situation. Bangkok: A  2-year-old boy wearing a rescue volunteer uniform is a regular sight among fellow rescuers in Sri Racha.\r\n\"Bhum,\" the youngest rescue volunteer of Yiang Tai Sri Racha foundation, learns valuable lessons on how to help humanity when he joins his rescue volunteer parents as they work.
