Singapore: Major Emergency Exercise to be conducted at Sports Hub on May 9


The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), the Singapore Police Force, and other government agencies will be conducting Exercise Northstar 9 at the Singapore Sports Hub this Saturday (May 09).The exercise will also be extended to the nearby Kallang Wave Mall and Stadium MRT station. It will start at 12.30pm and end at around 3pm, the SCDF said in a statement on May 07. Exercise Northstar is a series of exercises introduced in 1997 to test and validate a multi-agency emergency response to a major incident. Singapore: SGH launches simplified CPR programme for community, religious groups


Singapore: You can still save a person\'s life even if you have not been taught how to do mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.That is according to a recent study by the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) and the National Heart Centre Singapore on people who have learnt chest-compression skills versus those who have gone through standard cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training, which consists of chest compressions and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.\r\nSGH is now planning to expand the pool of people willing to respond to emergencies with an easy-to-learn CPR training programme, which also teaches participants to follow a medical expert\'s instructi

Singapore: 600 Clinics will be Open during Jubilee Weekend, Public Advised to Visit only for Medical Emergency


Singapore:  Avoid visiting hospitals for non-emergencies, as more than 600 clinics will be in operation during the Jubilee weekend, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said.\r\nMOH encouraged the public who feel unwell during the long weekend from Aug 7 to 10 to visit their general practitioner or a 24-hour clinic for conditions that are not life-threatening or serious emergencies.Members of the public are advised to seek medical treatment at hospitals\' Accident & Emergency departments only for \"serious emergencies, such as chest pain, breathlessness, and uncontrollable bleeding\", said MOH in its advisory.The list of clinics which are op

Singapore: Biggest ever Medical Team Assembled for SG50 National Day Parade


Singapore: The medical team on hand to ensure the well-being of performers and spectators at this year\'s National Day Parade (NDP) will be the largest ever assembled. Around 600 medical personnel will be deployed - triple the number in previous years - and more medical posts will be set up.\r\nThere will even be a dedicated team taking care of the young ones. The 7,000-strong cast of performers at this year\'s NDP is made up of 600 primary school students, of whom more than 100 are below eight years old.

Singapore: 87 Constituencies Get Tools to Better Handle Emergencies


Singapore: The People’s Association,on August 30, launched the Nationwide Emergency Response (ER) Kit, which will be available at 87 constituencies, to better equip grass root leaders and volunteers to handle any cases of fire, haze or epidemic crisis.\r\nThe kit comprises items such as N95 masks, traffic batons, traffic gloves, non-contact thermometers, Community Emergency Response Team reflective vests, a first-aid kit, fire blanket and fire extinguisher. Constituencies are encouraged to customise the kit in accordance with their needs, by including other items they may need.
