Qatar: Qatar Bans Taking Pictures at Accident Sites


Manama: A legal amendment that criminalizes taking pictures of people killed or injured in accidents and disseminating them on social media without the consent of anyone representing them has been approved by the Qatari government.\r\nThe amendment to provisions in the 2004 Penal Law did not specify whether the ban was confined to traffic or accidents or included other mishaps or unfortunate events as well.

Qatar: Qatar to more than Double Number of Emergency Call Operators


Qatar is ramping up efforts to respond to emergencies in the coming years, though problems persist because many 999 calls are not actual crises, a senior official has said. In a recent interview, a senior Ministry of Interior (MOI) officials said a new building that will be able to house more operators and equipment is expected to be completed in two years, Al Raya reports.\r\nKhalid Saleh Al-Ansari, the MOI’s chief of emergencies, said that the five-story building would increase the department’s units from 30 to around 70-80 units.

Qatar: New Civil Defense Council Formed to Manage Qatar’s Emergency Response


Qatar’s Emir has approved a new law aimed at accelerating the country’s emergency response to natural disasters and other catastrophic incidents, as well as tightening building safety requirements, according to the Qatar News Agency (QNA).\r\nOne of the major changes contained in Law No. 25 for the year 2015 involves shifting responsibilities from the Ministry of Interior to a newly established Civil Defense Council, local media reports state.

Qatar: PM Opens Paediatric Emergency Centre


Doha: The Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani on December 15  officially opened Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) newly completed expansion of its Paediatric Emergency Center (PEC) in Al Sadd.\r\nFollowing the opening ceremony, the Prime Minister toured the expanded emergency facility and inspected its treatment and procedure rooms and isolation units, which were designed to meet the health care needs of children.

Qatar: Ambulance Service to Reach Out to Public for Feedback


Doha: In a new project to increase awareness, Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Ambulance Service will reach out to the public next year for feedback. It aims to educate everyone in the country to know what to do when an emergency situation arises.\r\nAmbulance Service’s ‘Help Us Help You’ awareness campaign began in 2013 and the new project will reach out to people and know about their experiences. “One of the areas we are excited about the New Year is heaving a more detailed feedback from the community and their experiences.
