Philippines: MMDA to Motorists: Give Way to Emergency Vehicles


Manila: The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) appealed to motorists to give way to fire trucks, ambulances and other emergency vehicles traversing along designated lanes for them along Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue (EDSA).\r\nThe special “fire lane” is on EDSA’s fourth lane from the right sidewalk, also designated motorcycle lane. Bong Nebrija, MMDA Supervising Operations Officer, said it is important for people to give way to emergency vehicles such as fire trucks to get through traffic.

Philippines: La Unionís 911 Hotline Project

Philippines: 1,300 Red Cross Staff, Volunteers to Assist Holy Week Travellers


Manila: Around 1,300 Philippine Red Cross staff and volunteers nationwide have been deployed to provide first aid assistance and ambulance service starting Tuesday (11 April) until Sunday (16 April).\r\nPRC has set up 161 first aid stations with 60 stationed ambulances and 33 roving ambulances in churches, beaches, swimming pools/resorts, bus terminals, sea and air ports, parks, highways, mountains and pilgrimage areas, and other public places nationwide, a statement from PRC said.

Philippines: Preparations all Set for ASEAN 2017


Metro Manila: Government is set to host the 30th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in Manila on 26-29 April.\r\nIn a press briefing Monday (24 April), Philippine National Police chief Ronald Dela Rosa assured the public that the police have all bases covered and are doing everything \"humanly possible\" to secure the event.

Philippines: Tesda to Launch Emergency Skills Training Program for OFWs


Pampanga: The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) on Tuesday (25 April) said they will launch the “Emergency Skills Training Program” to assist returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs). Tesda director general Secretary Guiling Mamondiong said that returning OFWs may submit their application form starting May 1 so that they may avail of the skills training program.
