Qatar: HMC Opens 2State-of-the-Art Emergency Centres at New Airport


Doha: Passengers at Hamad International Airport will experience enhanced medical services with the opening of 2 state-of-the-art emergency centres. Operated by Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), the centres will operate 24 hours.  Staffed by a multidisciplinary team of professionals, the opening of the centres May 26 coincided with the closure of the clinics at Doha International Airport.

Qatar: Sign Language Training for Officials


A sign language workshop for Ministry of Interior officials concluded on June 11. The training programme arranged by the National Command Centre was conducted in association with the Qatari Centre of Social Cultural for the Deaf for 4 months. Around 19 men and women NCC officers attended the training programme. “The main objective of the programme was to improve the efficiency of emergency services in 999 and emergency service for the deaf in 992. Our ambition is to ensure the safety and security of everyone in the community.”

Qatar: Paediatric Unit Planned at Sidra Centre


Doha: A paediatric emergency unit with all the required facilities is to be opened at the upcoming Sidra Medical and Research Centre in 2 years.It is expected that it would be the biggest paediatric emergency centre in the country.\r\nQatar is making rapid strides in the realm of paediatric emergency healthcare and already has enough child specialists, although there is shortage of child specialists internationally.

Qatar: Ambulances Forced to Queue at Hospitals Due to A&E Chaos


Lives are being put at risk because ambulances are taking up to 3 minutes longer on average to reach the most seriously ill patients than 3 years ago, according to Labour.Chaos at accident and emergency departments means ambulances are trapped in queues outside, which has a knock-on effect on the time it takes to deal with 999 calls, the party said.\r\nIt pointed to records published by the Health and Social Care Information Centre that show category ‘A ’ambulance callouts, which relate to life-threatening conditions such as heart attacks and strokes, are taking an average of 67 seconds longer than in 2011.

Qatar: QRC supplies emergency medicines to Gaza hospitals


The Qatar Red Crescent (QRC) has provided Palestinian hospitals in the Gaza Strip with emergency medicines in response to Gaza’s Ministry of Health hospitals that are suffering acute shortage of medicines and medical supplies in light of the ongoing Israeli aggression.\r\nQatar Emergency Relief Fund has donated QR2mn to import urgently required medicines to Gaza’s hospitals, including seven varieties of essential medicines totalling 40,300 pharmaceutical packages for emergency services and surgical procedures.
