Karachi:  A medical emergency can happen at any time, but now technological advancements can help you tackle this. A new mobile application ‘Marham’ developed by Ehsan Imam is changing the way people in Pakistan find doctors.\r\nBeing a technologist who has made several applications around the world, this tragedy inspired Ehsan Imam to develop a mobile application which would let people find doctors related to the medical condition they were suffering from.

Pakistan: State of the Art Emergency Ward at PIC


Sir: The inauguration of the state-of-the-art emergency ward at the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) is the evidence that the government is paying attention to the healthcare of the public. This step would help provide modern and effective emergency services and reduce health woes of the public.\r\nAt present, the emergency ward comprises of 100 beds, but as per the plan soon 100 more beds will be added. Whatever has been done is good but more needs to be done.

Pakistan: PRC to Establish 121 Labs, Blood Donation Centres


Lahore—Pakistan Red Crescent (PRC) will establish 121 laboratories to diagnose different diseases and blood donation centres across the country. In an interview with APP here on Sunday (October 9), PRC Chairman Dr Saeed Elahi said that no person would die due to shortage of blood if two percent people in the country donate blood.\r\nHe said that blood screening of prisoners in different jails of the country will be started and screening of 5,000 prisoners in Adyala Jail would be carried out as a project and added that ambulance Service College had been established at national headquarters.

Pakistan: Citizens Demand Better Services at PIMS Emergency Dept


Islamabad: Citizens on Sunday (October 23) demanded of the authorities concerned to improve healthcare services at the emergency department of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) to entertain the maximum number of patients.\r\nAccording to them, a large number of patients from far-flung areas visit the PIMS emergency unit daily and face many problems because of lack of facilities and adequate services. When contacted, the Vice Chancellor, Shaheed Zulifqar Ali Bhutto Medical University, PIMS Dr Javed Akram, said that a sufficient number of doctors performed duties at the hospital\'s emergency wards.

Pakistan: 22 Killed, Over 60 Injured in Karachi Train Crash – Emergency was declared in Karachi’s Hospitals


Karachi: As many as 22 people, including seven women and two children, were killed and over 65 injured, some of them seriously, when a speeding Zakaria Express rammed into the stationary Fareed Express.\r\nEmergency was declared in Karachi’s major hospitals and ambulances of private welfare organisations rushed to the spot. However, people from nearby areas pulled out the dead and injured from the wreckage on self-help basis while ambulances took around 30-40 minutes in reaching the site of the accident and took another 30 minutes in transporting the injured to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center.
