China: Chinese Rescue Team Arrives in Myanmar to Help Search for Missing Mountaineers


Yangon: A nine-member Chinese rescue team arrived in Yangon by plane 13 Sepemberen route to Putao in northernmost Kachin state of Myanmar, to help search for two Myanmar mountaineers who have been missing on the snow-capped Mount HkakaBorazi for 13 days.\r\nThe Blue Sky Rescue (BSR) Team, which is China\'s largest civilian rescue team, will help Myanmar launch the search operation.\r\nAmong the Chinese team members are some mountaineers who once participated in mountaineering trip to the Mount Everest, the world\'s highest mountain, and had rich experiences in mountain search and rescue activities.

China: Southern China Makes Emergency Preps for Typhoon Kalmaegi


Beijing: China\'s top observatory on September 14 evening issued a yellow alert for tropical storm as Typhoon Kalmaegi was approaching the South China Sea.\r\nChina has a four-tier color-coded warning system for severe weather, with red being the most serious, followed by orange, yellow and blue.\r\nTyphoon Kalmaegi is forecast to reach the eastern waters of the South China Sea on Monday morning when the scale is expected to weaken to 35-40 meters per second, said the National Meteorological Center (NMC).

China: China gets ready for Ebola


China\'s health authorities urged local health administrative departments and hospitals to fully prepare for potential Ebola cases on Monday, as the virus keeps spreading.\r\nHospitals designated to treat Ebola cases should secure supplies of apparatus, medicines, disinfectants and protective gear for necessary treatment as well as ambulances for patient transfers, the National Health and Family Planning Commission said in a statement.\r\nHospitals were urged to map out detailed work flows to guide medical workers as emergency responses to the virus, it said, stressing effective quarantine measures and safe disposals of medical wastes.

China: Rescue Accelerates as Major Aftershock Hits Sichuan Quake Zone


Rescuers are racing against time to save those injured after a series of quakes in the Tibetan region in southwest China\'s Sichuan Province since 22 November.The new injuries brought the number of the wounded following a 6.3-magnitude earthquake on 22 November afternoon to 68.\r\nA total of 59 injured are now being treated in the hospital, among whom two patients are still critical, according to the provincial health and family planning committee.

China: Xiamen Faces Severe Shortage of Ambulances


Yang Shuyu, the director of the Xiamen Health and Family Planning Commission, recently raised the issue of a severe ambulance shortage during a Xiamen government meeting, which drew Xiamen Mayor Liu Keqing’s attention. The mayor subsequently requested that the relevantdepartments solve the problem as soon as possible. \r\nAccording to the report, Xiamen’s ambulances were dispatched more than 58,000 times from January to November in 2014, averaging over 200 calls per day, with many ambulances having to drive a dozen times in one day.
