Pakistan: PEF Begins Disaster Risk Management Training


National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) - a subsidiary of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Islamabad, has started 2-day training workshop for principals of partner schools of Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) and staff members from August 20. \r\nAccording to a spokesman of Punjab Education Foundation, NIDM will impart hands-on training on disaster and emergency preparedness related topics. NIDM is imparting this training under a UN project \"School Safety Plan\" for principals and teachers of educational institutions for which it has also engaged experts from private sector and universities.

Pakistan: PRCS Sets-up First Aid Camp at D-Chowk


Islamabad: The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) has set up a first aid camp at D-Chowk to provide medical assistance to participants of the ongoing protests. It has also deputed 12 ambulances at different points for rescue in case of emergency.\r\nThe medical teams of PRCS are providing medicines to participants of the two marches. Its blood bank is working 24/7 for provision of the blood, should the need arise. The PRCS has 5,000 registered blood donors that were also on standby for donation of blood in case of any emergency. It will provide blood pints to the hospitals of Islamabad in case of any emergency.

Karachi: Sindh Health Minister Dr Sagheer Ahmed on September 18 delivered the keys of what officials called 25 ‘advance life-support’ ambulances to health officials and heads of hospitals of 17 districts of Sindh.

Pakistan: Cyclone Emergency Declared in 10 Sindh Districts; Holiday Tomorrow


Karachi: The Sindh government has announced a holiday on October 31 Friday, declared emergency in the metropolis and 4 other districts and made arrangements for the board and lodging of coastal area residents being shifted to safe places in view of the cyclone that is heading towards the coast at a speed of 14 kilometres per hour.

Pakistan: Body Formed to Enhance Services in Case of Emergency


Karachi: Sindh Chief Secretary Sajjad Saleem Hotiana has advised the departments of Health, Home and Police to ensure coordinated efforts for combined services in case of emergency, casualties, medico-legal certification and post-mortem in the hospitals.
