Malaysia: CPR Exercise in Stadium Makes Record


George Town: The mass cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) exercise held in Han Chiang Indoor Stadium here on 15 March has made it into the Malaysia Book of Records by attracting about 7,500 participants.The event has edged Johor\'s previous record of 4,459 people set in 2006.Organised by the state CPR society, the event started around 8am and saw police officers, Fire and Rescue Department personnel and secondary school students taking part in the learning of life-saving skills.State Health committee chairman Dr AfifBahardin, who was present, said the main aim of the event was to raise awareness on the importance of providing CPR.

Malaysia: Penang Red Crescent to Raise funds through Annual Flag Day


George Town: The Malaysia Red Crescent (MRC) Penang Branch will organise its annual flag day over 2 days on 28 and 29 March. Its organising committee chairman Chow Thian Pow said the event on the last weekend of the month would raise funds from the public for the non-governmental organisation\'s various humanitarian projects and activities.\"We are always in need of funds to train our members, to upgrade our ambulances, rescue vehicles and equipment,\" Chow said.He added that part of the funds raised from the annual flag-day would also be used to finance its 12-hour ambulance service centres in Permatang

Malaysia: Johor State Govt to Appeal for 132 Ambulances under 11MP to Meet Demand


Nusahaya: The Johor state government has requested 132 ambulances under the 11th Malaysia Plan (11MP) allocation to meet the service requirements of all government hospitals throughout the state, said Health and Environmental Committee chairman Datuk Ayub Rahmat.He said so far, Johor had 132 ambulances with 68 of them in hospitals, and another 64 at health clinics. “Therefore, we have requested for another 132 new ambulances under 11MP and the decision on the request will be known in the third week of this month,\" said Ayub in reply to a question by Dr Sheikh Ibrahim (PAS-Sungai Abong) who raised the issue of a lack of ambulance s

Malaysia: Hospital on Wheels to the Rescue


Timah Tasoh: Disaster victims could receive prompt treatment with a state-of-the-art hospital on wheels which allows for major surgeries to be performed on site.With the mobile hospital, which is made up of five vehicles, the Chinese authorities can carry out medical procedures such as outpatient treatment, X-rays and surgeries. “The operation van is equipped with an EKG (electrocardiogram) machine. In one day, we can check at least 100 people,” said Tian Junzhang, principal of China’s National Health Emergency Team’s field hospital, here.

Malaysia: New Equipment, Vehicles for Bomba, Including 21 Emergency Medical Rescue Service Vehicles


Kuching: The State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) on May 28 received new specialised firefighting equipment and vehicles worth RM28.9 million to increase its efficiency in protecting lives and properties.The State Bomba received 10 units of Prime Mover with Water Tank Trailers, 21 Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicles, 4 three- tonne and five-tonne lorries, 6 rescue boats and support equipment.
