Nepal: 20 Intern Doctors of NMC Arrested after They Tried to close Emergency Services


Pathari: Police have arrested 20 intern doctors who have been launching agitation for the past one week at Nobel Medical College (NMC). Dhakal said the intern doctors were arrested after they tried to close the emergency and OPD services and attack police.

Nepal: Nepal Medical AssociationDemands Constitutional Body


Kathmandu: The Nepal Medical Association (NMA), an umbrella body of doctors, has demanded a provision in the new constitution that ensures formation of a constitutional body to oversee healthcare and medical education inside the country. The NMA has said that there is an urgent need for such body to regulate healthcare system and also medical education.\r\nClause 40 of the constitution has stated about the right to health care. The constitution in the sub-clause (1) states that “every citizen shall have the right to basic health care and no citizen shall be deprived of emergency health care.”

Nepal: Red Cross Ambulance Vandalised in Siraha


Kathmandu: The Red Cross Society has urged all parties to respect the work of health care and emergency services, after a group of people threw stones at an ambulance, on Tuesday(September 1). It was marked with a Red Cross emblem.\r\nThe incident occurred in Choharba of Siraha district, while the ambulance was on its way to Birgunj. This is the fourth Red Cross ambulance, along with several other ambulances operated by other service providers, to be attacked in the ongoing Madhes demonstration, according to a press release by the Nepal Red Cross Society and the International Committee of the Red Cross.

Nepal: Ambulances Refusing to Transport Patients


Hetauda: Ambulances operating in Makawanpur district have been refusing to go to remote areas to carry patients citing fuel shortage. Service seekers said ambulances operated by Hetauda Hospital, Red Cross and other organisations have been refusing to transport patients. One of the ambulances refused to take pregnant Sunita Prajapati to hospital from Hetauda Sub-metropolitan a few days ago. Prajapati’s relatives had requested the ambulance to take her to the hospital, but in vain. The relatives said the drivers had hung up the phone saying they had no fuel to operate their vehicles. Nepal: NOC Distributing Fuel to Public and Emergency Vehicles on Sunday


Kathmandu: Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) is going to distribute petrol and diesel to the public and emergency vehicles on Sunday (December 06).\r\nThe NOC, issuing a notice on Saturday (December 05), said it has chosen 46 petrol pumps in Kathmandu Valley as well as Kavre district for the distribution.The state owned-monopoly has stopped distributing petroleum products to the private vehicles for last one month after the shortage of fuel was aggravated.
