Malaysia: Health Ministry Plans to Have Hospital Resource Sharing Concept


Kuala Lumpur: The Health Ministry wants to implement the Hospital Clusters concept involving public hospitals nationwide next year, said Deputy Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Hilmi Yahya.Dr Hilmi said this concept of hospital resource sharing, among others, to reduce congestion in public hospitals is being focused at public hospitals first, before it is extended with the cooperation of the private hospitals.\r\n\"This concept will be implemented in stages and it is necessary to ensure if it is effective in public hospitals first before being extended to private hospitals,\" he said when replying to Senator Datuk Yoo Wei How at the Dewan Negara

Malaysia: First Aid for Dummies


Panang: The first AED has been stationed in Komtar’s Level 3 concourse.“When people see someone having a heart attack, they can break the glass to remove the key and unlock the AED. Then follow the instructions on the screen.\r\n“Training will be given to those in charge of taking care of the AED devices and we will regularly hold public training sessions on how to use it,” said Penang Health Committee chairman Dr Afif Bahardin.after the ceremony to launch the AED in Komtar on Wednesday (December 16).\r\nPenang is the first state in Malaysia to install a public AED.

Malaysia: Emergency JPAM Teams At All Recreational Areas Nationwide


Kuala Pilah: The Malaysian Civil Defence Department (JPAM) will station emergency rescue teams at all recreational areas nationwide, starting this year.\r\nIts director-general OguSalim Omar said the measure would be taken to ensure the safety of visitors, especially during the weekends, public and school holidays.The setting up of the teams are in line with the government\'s order, following the increasing number of death cases at recreational areas.

Malaysia: Fire and Rescue Department Target 10-Minute Response Time


Last year, the Fire and Rescue Department received over 80,000 emergency calls.\r\nIn only 44 percent of the cases did they manage to arrive at the scene within 10-minutes, which is the target which the department has set. Deputy director-general (Operations) Datuk Soiman Jahid said that there were many obstacles to firemen achieving their 10-minute maximum response time, in order to ensure there was minimal risk in terms of loss of lives or property. Firemen are often hampered from reaching the 10-minute response target owing to varying reasons.

Malaysia: JPJ Issues Notices of Interview for Using Emergency Lane and Blocking Ambulance


Melaka: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has begun issuing notices of interview to vehicle owners detected to have used the emergency lane at KM228 of the North-South Expressway here, last Sunday (May 22).\r\nMelaka JPJ director Mohd Fadhil Hassan said vehicle owners receiving the notices had a grace period of two weeks to present themselves at the JPJ office for further investigation.
