Israel: Israeli \'Mental First-Aid\' Method Goes International


An Israeli who developed an unorthodox model for treating mental trauma and preventing post-traumatic stress disorder during his years in the military is now sharing it with first responders in other countries.\r\nMoshe Farchi says Israel\'s decades of conflict have afforded it \"lots of experience\" in dealing with trauma, leading to effective and science-based models of work.

Israel: Israel Provides First-Aid Training to Indian Volunteers


Magen David Adom (Red star of David),  the Israeli emergency service, is currently working with the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) to offer medical aid training to volunteers, reports the Hindustan Times.\r\nThe volunteers are people with no first aid or medical education and their training will be examined by Israeli experts who will then certify them to serve as part of a first response team during emergencies.

Israel: Clalit, Maccabi to Start Paying Ambulance Cost automatically


Beginning on 01 September, Clalit Health Services and Maccabi Health Services will pay for Magen David Adom ambulance- evacuation services automatically, freeing members from wading through red tape to be reimbursed.\r\nSuch an arrangement also will be available to members of Meuhedet Health Services and Leumit Health Services – the two smallest public health insurers – in the near future.

Israel: Disabled Israeli EMT Saves Lives


Danny Shmuel was injured in a serious motorcycle accident in 2000. After a long period of rehabilitation, Shmuel was able to walk again with the help of crutches. Yet his handicap does not prevent him from volunteering as an EMT with United Hatzalah and saving lives.\r\nShmuel serves as the chapter head of United Hatzalah for Tel Aviv a city that has seen a groundswell of new volunteers in the past year.
