Israel: Israel to Conduct Workshop on Disaster Preparedness


After providing medical assistance in areas devastated by Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan), a team from Israel will return to Cebu to conduct a disaster-preparedness workshop for officials from different government sectors. Israel Ambassador to the Philippines Menashe Bar-On visited Gov. Hilario Davide III and informed him about the workshop February 13. Israel: Hadassah Staff Return to Work after Temporary Deal Reached


All sides in the wage and recovery program disputes at the Hadassah Medical Organization heaved a sigh of relief on February 19 Wednesday when a temporary agreement reached before dawn made it possible for work to continue in full. The doctors returned to normal work, following 2 weeks of severely cutting down their workload in protest, after the Jerusalem District Court ruled that they would have enough malpractice insurance to cover them despite the 90-day freeze on Hadassah’s financial obligations. Israel: Ukrainians Receive Emergency Care Training from Israel


 The United Hatzalah and ZAKA rescue organizations are training Jews in Kiev’s Hatzalah so they can respond to mass casualty emergencies in the troubled and violent Ukraine if the crisis escalates. In cooperation with the Isralife Foundation, the two organizations, which recently merged, are training local Jews in emergency, rescue and search techniques. Israel: BGU and Partners to Create Israeli, Palestinian and Jordanian Community Emergency Response Teams


Health organizations from Israel, Jordan and the Palestinian territories, together with Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, have launched a project to jointly promote community preparedness and emergency response. The Regional Cooperation Ministry and the European Commission’s Partnership for Peace Program sponsored the project, and BGU, Magen David Adom, the Jordan Red Crescent and the Palestinian Authority’s Green Land Society for Health Development are to implement it. Israel: Passover Concert to Honour Hatzalah Medics and Volunteers


United Hatzalah will hold their 10th anniversary concert over the Passover holiday featuring the-name Jewish singers. The emergency medical response based in Israel will honour Leonardo Farkas, a philanthropist from Chile as well as their over 2,000 volunteers.  The concert will feature two of the most well-known cantors in the world, Netanel Hershtik and Yitzchak Meir Helfgot as well as young-up -and-coming Israeli cantor Shlomo Glick who is also a Hatzalah first-response volunteer.
