Israel: Heart attack victims still die because of lack of $1,000 AEDs in public places


More than 6 years after the Knesset passed a law requiring automatic defibrillators in public places to save the lives of heart attack victims, the Economy Ministry has at last begun to map the country to determine where the devices already exist.The 2009 law requires all public places with at least 500 customers or visitors daily to purchase and install automatic defibrillators.

Israel: Life-Saving Israeli Start-up Backed by Former Israeli PM


Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak has invested $1 million in an Israeli start-up aimed at saving lives by improving communication for rescue services. Reporty Homeland Security is developing a global platform to help emergency services to quickly locate and reach individuals in distress.Last June, Israeli police stated that 20 percent of the 10 million calls they receive annually are nuisance calls. Magen David Adom, Israel’s paramedic service, said some 23 percent of the 9 million calls they field turn out to be false alarms. Israel: NBA Star Amar’e Stoudemire Raises $440,000 to Save Lives in Israel


Six-time NBA All-Star Amare Stoudemire raised $441,318 to United Hatzalah, a non-profit emergency medical services organization in Israel, as part of a campaign he run throughout the 2014-2015 season.\r\nStoudemire was most impressed with United Hatzalah for its efforts to decrease response time using a fleet of ambucylces—medically equipped motorcycles—and a cutting-edge, GPS-based mobile dispatch application.

Israel: Committee Approves Bill to Fine False Emergency Calls


The Ministerial Legislative Committee has approved of a bill by MK Nissan Slominski (Jewish Home), which would punish people for wasting emergency services\' time.\r\nAccording to MK Slominski, \"The incident which occurred during this past Passover in which the entire country was called up following the Niv Asraf affair proves yet again the need for this legislation, according to which, a false call to emergency services such as the police, MDA and fire departments, will result in a fine of 14,400 shekels [$3,770 USD].\"
