Traffic cops have increased their presence on the emirate’s roads, with those found guilty facing up to a month’s imprisonment as well as 10 black points on their driving licence.
“Overtaking on the hard shoulder of the road is a dangerous driving behaviour that poses a risk to people’s lives,” said Brigadier Eng Hussein Ahmed Al Harithi, Director of Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police.
“The hard shoulder was designed to be used in cases of emergency and accidents, and should be left free for ambulances transporting sick and injured people, in addition to civil defence and police vehicles, to ensure their timely arrival to accidents’ sites to provide aid and assistance in cases of emergency.” |
