Red Cross Society to Train 5,000 Volunteers

Nashik: The city unit of the Red Cross Society will train 5,000 volunteers for the forthcoming Kumbh mela on disaster management and first-aid, with the assistance of a Mumbai-based non-governmental organization (NGO).

They are planning to set up a health unit and will be making their sole ambulance available in case of an emergency.

"We have communicated with the Sadichha Foundation of Mumbai, which will be training volunteers in Nashik on disaster management and first-aid. We are planning to train 5,000 such volunteers before the Kumbh Mela. During Kumbh, we would like to set up a health unit in one of the prime locations of activity, along with our ambulance, as per the demarcation of the district collector," said Major (Retd) P M Bhagat, honorary secretary of the Red Cross Society, Nashik.
