Kids Are Being Given Codeine in the ER regardless of the Risks

Although there are strict recommendations regarding codeine and children, it seems as if this painkiller is being used rather frequently within emergency rooms. Half a million children are being prescribed the drug every single year, even though there are strict guidelines regarding the painkiller, all of this is coming fresh to us from a new study.

The use of the drug isn’t really out there, as only 3 percent of kids who had visited the ER were given codeine in the year 2010. This is on the tails of a study conducted regarding the matter. Although that was the case then, seeing as there are more than 25 million children going to the ER every single year, writers and authors of the study are stating that too many kids are being given the drug (that when there are better option available to them).
