Kozhikode: Road accident victims in Kozhikode will soon get more help and assistance in the form of ‘Bike Ambulances’, a first-of-its kind initiative in the state. The two-wheeler ambulance service aims to provide accident victims an emergency transport and first aid. The ambulances, with a driver, will be deployed in Vadakara after the successful 3 month long training given to volunteers.
The training for the novel initiative by the Active Network Group of Emergency Life Savers (ANGELS) was officially inaugurated by C K Nanu MLA on May 1. “To be named the ‘First Response Vehicles’, the ambulance service would be run by trained volunteers. The volunteers will reach the accident spot after he receives intimation over the mobile phone. They will administer the necessary first aid and will arrange an appropriate vehicle for the transportation of the victim,” Dr Venugopalan, said. |
